Privacy

The honest summary: this site knows almost nothing about you, and it is built so that it can't quietly start knowing more.

What stays on your device

Two things are stored in your browser: which puzzles you've solved and how long you took, and which theme you picked. Both live in your browser's own storage, on your device. They are never sent anywhere — there is no server that could receive them, and no code on any page that transmits them. You can see, export, or delete the lot on the progress page, and clearing your browser data removes it completely.

What we can see

The site is a set of static files served through Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare sees the technical details of each request — your IP address, the page asked for, the browser's self-description — and uses them to deliver the page and to keep the site up.

Pages also load a small counting script from Cloudflare, which reports that a page was viewed along with the referring site and basic browser and screen details. It sets no cookie and stores nothing on your device, so it cannot recognise you on your next visit or follow you to any other site. What reaches us is aggregate: how many times pages were viewed, from roughly which countries, and which sites linked here. Counts, not people. We cannot see who you are, which puzzles you solved, or connect one visit of yours to another. Cloudflare's handling of all of this is described in their privacy policy.

Cloudflare also inserts two small scripts of its own: one that scrambles email addresses on the page so that scrapers have a harder time harvesting them, and one that lets the browser fetch a linked page slightly before you click it. Neither identifies you.

What we don't do

No cookies — which is why there is no cookie banner. No advertising, no tracking pixels, no social-media embeds, no third-party fonts, and nothing that builds a profile of you here or anywhere else. The counting script described above is the only thing any page loads from beyond this site. There is no email list, and no way to sign up for one.

If you email us

Writing to [email protected] gives us your email address and whatever you chose to say. We use it to reply, we keep the thread as long as it is useful for fixing whatever you raised, and we don't add you to anything — there is nothing to add you to.

Children

The site is built to be safe to put in front of a classroom. There is no account to create, no name or email asked for anywhere, and nothing collected that could identify a child — or anyone else. We do not knowingly hold personal information about anyone, of any age, beyond the emails people send us.

Your rights

Privacy laws in various places give you rights over personal data an organisation holds about you. Ours is a short exercise: unless you have emailed us, we hold nothing. If you have, ask at [email protected] and we will show you the thread or delete it.

Changes

If the site ever starts collecting more than this page describes, the page changes first and the date at the top says when. The promises on the about page — no accounts, no ads, no cookies — are the constraints this policy is written inside.
